We offer the smallest Port Douglas Guided Diving Tours

It’s time to get excited. A dive trip to the Great Barrier Reef should be memorable for all the right reasons, and it will be with ABC Scuba Diving Port Douglas. Our sites offer all the diving enthusiast’s heart could desire – current drenched underwater pinnacles and bommies, exciting drift dives along pristine coral and fan walls, stunning caverns and swim-throughs, coral gardens and an abundance of big and small reef creatures. We offer the best guided dive & snorkel tours on the the least crowded commercial vessel from Port Douglas.

We deliberately avoid setting a firm daily schedule, ensuring wildlife acts naturally and doesn’t begin shying from busy spots so the surprise, “big ticket” sightings are frequent and amazing biodiversity of our sites remains intact. This is a rare luxury, afforded by our particular permit and the size of our vessel which enables us to move very freely and explore. The ability to roam the magnificent reef systems off Port Douglas is a true pleasure for us, only enhanced by the opportunity to share often unknown sites daily with just a handful of people from around the world. ABC Scuba Diving Port Douglas is a truly low impact operation. Our footprint is tiny compared to the usual boats that take people to the reef. What are we going to see?

Scuba Diving the Great Barrier Reef

My wife and I had a truly unforgettable GBR experience thanks to ABC. It had been in my bucket list for some time and I wasn’t disappointed. We are both certified divers and I spent sometime looking at different companies to use. Yes, ABC aren’t the cheapest but if you want, great staff, a small personal group, great food then ABC is the company. Definitely worth the extra bucks. Thanks to all the team

Simple: Less People = No Crowds = The Diver’s & Snorkeler’s Choice

Our freedom from an obligation to use permanent moorings means we can head for the merely incredible, and if we find something absolutely spectacular on the way, we jump in and have a look. If it blows us away we stay and play. Our agility opens a myriad of opportunities for fantastic, old school, totally exploratory days, getting to parts of the reef that are seen by no one else. Adventures that are nothing short of world class.

  • Luxury versatile boat with a shallow-draft giving us access to amazing reef locations
  • Outstanding customer focused personal service at all levels
  • Our small dive groups are perfect for those nervous or inexperienced divers
  • Carrying a maximum of just 12 reef visitors per day
  • Remote and pristine sites not accessible to larger vessels
  • Genuine exploratory diving, exciting current drenched underwater pinnacles
  • Diving amongst ramparts of the continental shelf with pristine walls of coral
  • Expert crew of experienced locals, with at least one marine biologist aboard
  • More than 75+ years of combined crew experience living and working on the Reef
  • We explore new sites regularly to avoid sites becoming “over-dived”
  • We are an extremely low impact tourist operation with very low passenger numbers
  • Hire cameras or your own professional photo shoot available

This is adventure diving & snorkeling at its best. We don’t moor the boat at specific locations day after day. We are free to roam the reef and discover new sites: you could be the very first diver exploring a new location. How awesome!

Promise to you: We guarantee the most uncrowded uncompromised diving & snorkeling at exciting reef locations; different styles and locations (drift dives and adventure dives); guided diving with guides who care and help create those magic moments during your trip; open dive deck, we dive where we want, when we want; highly qualified crew; dive refresher courses if you need them. We may not be the cheapest but we are the best!

Certified Scuba Diving – Why choose ABC?

We are Port Douglas’ highest rated dive boat on TripAdvisor, for a good reason! ABC Scuba Diving Port Douglas diving day tours take you away from the crowds, to remote reef sites the bigger boats can’t access. What does this mean? Often ours is the only boat you see and our guests the only people you are sharing the water with. Our sites are teeming with marine biodiversity and thanks to our low impact philosophy they remain healthy and pristine.

When you join us for multiple days of diving we will always try to offer as much diversity and variation of dive locations as possible. However please remember that locations sometimes have to be chosen because of prevailing weather conditions.

The Great Barrier Reef is an amazing place to scuba dive! You can expect clear blue waters, sprawling coral gardens and a myriad of marine life, including fish of all shapes, colours and sizes, giant clams, rays, turtles, moray eels, sharks and more. We visit the most diverse secret spots, with unspoilt coral growth teeming with turtles and fish life.

Note: refresher courses are available and are definitely recommended if you have not dived for a while, or are feeling a bit rusty.

NB: If you are visiting between May and September, you might be lucky and get a close encounter with a Dwarf Minke or Humpback Whale who travel through these waters at this time of the year during their annual migration.

Amazing experience diving in a small group

I went out with ABC for 3 dives on the outer reef and had a fantastic day. I was looking around for a long time for a smaller boat to go out and this one was perfect with a maximum of 12 divers per trip. Staff were friendly and super knowledgeable when it came to the reef and marine life. I would definitely recommend you dive with them.

Safety is always Paramount. Do I need a Dive Medical?

In accordance with Queensland Dive Safety Laws all divers must complete a medical questionnaire on board. Certain medical conditions and/or prescription medicines may preclude you from scuba diving and require a release by an accredited Australian dive doctor prior to your dive. If you have not scuba dived and have not had a dive medical for a while or and have started on some medication it would always be prudent even for your own peace of mind to be cleared by a dive doctor.  Please check out the Queensland Medical Declaration (in the resources section).
